Trezor Connect

Trezor Connect is a tool for seamless integration of Trezor hardware wallets with third-party wallet apps including MetaMask, Rabby, and Backpack. Built with a developer-friendly interface, it ensures secure interactions for Trezor users within these apps. It provides an API with functionality to access public keys, sign transactions and authenticate users.

Full details can be found in the Trezor Connect documentation and on the GitHub project page.

Trezor Connect lets you keep using the interfaces you already know. Every action is reviewed and signed on your Trezor, all while keeping your keys offline and under your control. Trezor Connect offers:

  • A simpler experience: connect directly in Trezor Suite, without disruptive browser pop-ups.
  • Familiar wallets: keep using MetaMask, Rabby, Backpack and others with Trezor security.
  • Hardware-level security: transactions are approved only on your Trezor device, never elsewhere.
  • Fewer mistakes: Everything happens within Trezor Suite, reducing the risk of malicious prompts and helping you stay in full control.
  • Full control: your private keys never leave your Trezor, and you can manage or revoke third-party access anytime in Trezor Suite.

With the launch of Trezor Safe 7, Trezor Connect takes on a whole new importance. You can now connect directly to mobile wallets using Trezor Suite on mobile. This is a huge step forward for our mobile-first users who want to use their wallets to trade and interact within the crypto space. The new flow is smoother, simpler, and all within Trezor Suite.

Trezor Safe 7 is supported from Trezor Connect version 9.6.0 onwards. This means that any third-party wallet using Trezor Connect must update to version 9.6.0 or newer to support Trezor Safe 7.

Trezor Connect compatibility & updated flow

As of Trezor Connect version 9.6.0, we introduced a new user interface. More details can be found in our New Connect flow in Trezor Suite documentation.

For enhanced security, Trezor Safe 7 devices are not supported by the previous Connect ‘popup’ that you may be familiar with.

Older Trezor hardware wallets will still function with the old Connect popup.

To connect your Trezor Safe 7 to third party app wallets, you’ll need to install Trezor Suite.

The following third-party wallet apps all work with the updated Trezor Connect flow on either Desktop or Mobile, as indicated:
