BBQCoin ($BQC) is a memecoin that traces its origins back to the early days of cryptocurrency culture, having first been launched on July 22, 2012 on BitcoinTalk.org by a developer known as Cubox. At the time, BBQCoin gained notable visibility within the broader crypto ecosystem and was ranked among the top 15 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization during parts of 2013–2014, making it one of the earliest widely recognized meme-based digital assets preceding later tokens such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.
The project has since been relaunched on the pump.fun platform as a revival of the original concept. The relaunch maintains continuity with its historical branding and community narrative, while utilizing modern token infrastructure on Solana. The original creator, Cubox, is publicly supporting the relaunch and is receiving creator royalties from the new token deployment, linking the updated version of BBQCoin to its historical predecessor.
