Set up Monero CLI with your Trezor

Connect your Trezor Safe 5, Safe 3, or Model T to Monero CLI, the command-line Monero wallet, to send and receive Monero (XMR). Your Trezor signs every transaction. Monero CLI doesn't support Trezor Safe 7 or Model One.

On Trezor Safe 7, use Cake Wallet instead. To see which apps work with each Trezor, read What is Monero and how does it work with Trezor?.

Connect your Trezor to Monero CLI

1. Download Monero CLI

Download Monero CLI Wallet for your operating system from getmonero.org. Check the download against the hashes listed on the same page, then extract it.

2. Sync the Monero blockchain

Start the Monero daemon and let it sync.

Windows:

monerod.exe

Linux:

./monerod
3. Create your Trezor wallet

Connect and unlock your Trezor, then run the command below. Replace <wallet-name> with a name for your wallet, and follow the prompts on your Trezor.

Windows:

monero-wallet-cli.exe --hw-device Trezor --generate-from-device <wallet-name> --restore-height 1692975

Linux:

./monero-wallet-cli --hw-device Trezor --generate-from-device ./<wallet-name> --restore-height 1692975
4. Sync key images if you're restoring

If you've used this Trezor with Monero before, run hw_key_images_sync once the wallet finishes syncing. Without it, your wallet can build transactions that the Monero daemon rejects as double spends.

You can now send and receive Monero from the command line.
