deRWA is a token wrapping service built by Centrifuge that makes institutional real-world asset (RWA) funds freely transferable on public blockchains. Institutional fund tokens are normally subject to transfer restrictions that limit them to whitelisted, KYC-verified wallets. deRWA removes that constraint at the token layer: the issuer, Open Market Factory Limited (OMF), invests in the underlying fund and issues freely transferable securities whose blockchain ledger serves as the legal share registry, meaning an on-chain transfer constitutes a full transfer of ownership and of the holder's rights against the issuer.
Each deRWA token is a permissionless representation of a specific underlying fund. Current tokens include deJAAA (AAA-rated CLO strategy), deJTRSY (US Treasury strategy), deSPXA (S&P 500 index exposure), deCRDX (credit strategy) and deHYB (US high yield bonds). Token prices are derived from the net asset value of the underlying fund, published on-chain via oracle updates, and the tokens accrue the fund's return through price appreciation rather than rebasing.
Because deRWA tokens use a freely transferable transfer hook, they can be held, transferred, and bridged across supported networks without whitelisting, and can be used in DeFi applications such as lending markets, decentralized exchanges, savings products, and rate-based trading strategies. Subscription is open to non-US persons not subject to sanctions; redemption at NAV directly with the issuer requires full KYC and sanctions screening, while other holders can exit through secondary markets.
